YOUR PEOPLE. YOUR PURPOSE. YOUR NEXT STEP.
Envato: a wider creative library, with a clear purpose.
How to judge whether a stock subscription will help your website—and how to use the assets responsibly.
What is Envato?
Envato offers a broad creative-asset service covering categories such as graphics, photos, video templates, music, fonts and web assets. The Elements subscription and individual Envato Market purchases are different buying routes. Start by identifying the actual file and licence you need, rather than assuming one subscription includes everything across all Envato businesses.
When it is worth considering.
It can fit someone producing regular website or marketing content who needs a wider visual range than a small starter pack. For one simple website, a handful of original images and DigiSites graphics may be enough. A large catalogue also means more selection work: choose a coherent style, not one unrelated image from every category.
For example, a course creator might use a short background video, an editable presentation layout and supporting icons. They should check the software needed to edit each item and test that the files actually work in their production process.
Where it came from—and who is behind it.
Envato began in 2006 with Collis and Cyan Ta’eed and Jun Rung. Its early marketplaces expanded into a wider creative community and subscription offering. Shutterstock completed its acquisition of Envato in July 2024. Envato’s current company history says it continues with its own brand, platform and community within that group. The same company history identifies Hichame Assi as CEO.

What to check before subscribing.
- Does the specific plan include the asset or tool you need? Check billing currency, commitment, renewal, cancellation and any AI limits.
- What software and version does the template require? A design mockup is not necessarily a working website.
- What is the permitted end use? Read the current licence and register the asset for the project where required.
- Keep a record of the item, author, licence and project. Do not assume an item can be resold or redistributed as a source file.
- Check recognisable people, logos and property for the intended use; a stock item does not make a false endorsement acceptable.
How to sign up and use it well.
- Write a small asset brief: purpose, placement, style and required format.
- Browse Envato’s official catalogue and confirm a few suitable items before choosing a plan.
- Create your own account, review current pricing and licence terms, and complete any purchase yourself.
- Download and license each item as required for the actual project. Keep the documentation with your website backup.
- Adapt it thoughtfully, optimise website file sizes and test the result on mobile. Do not add autoplay audio or heavy video simply because it is available.
DigiSites originals and Envato serve different needs.
Our small graphics collection is being designed to get a business website started with less decision-making. Envato is a separate option for broader creative requirements. Its assets stay under Envato’s licence and are not resold in our download packs.
